In the hybrid work era, people need to co-create and collaborate on\u202fdocuments\u202ffrom wherever they are.\u202fWith more than 270 million monthly active users<\/span>,\u202fMicrosoft\u202fTeams and Office have become fundamental to the way people work. So, we want to\u202fensure our customers can\u202fcollaborate on documents\u202fno matter where they are stored.\u202fSince\u202f2015,\u202fhundreds of\u202fpartners\u202fhave\u202fbuilt integrations\u202fwith Office\u202fthrough\u202fthe\u202f<\/span>Cloud Storage\u202fPartner Program<\/span><\/a>\u202f(CSPP). Today we\u2019re\u202fannouncing several\u202fnew ways for Cloud Storage Partners to integrate their services\u202fwith Office and Teams.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Real-time co-authoring in Office on desktop, web, and mobile<\/h2>\n

We\u2019re introducing the ability for\u00a0select\u00a0CSPP partners to enable real-time co-authoring on Office desktop and mobile apps, in addition to our existing integration with Office for the web. This\u00a0enables\u00a0users\u00a0to co-author\u00a0Word, Excel,\u00a0and PowerPoint\u00a0documents\u00a0simultaneously\u00a0whether they are working in Office on\u00a0desktop, web,\u00a0or\u00a0mobile, with all edits automatically saving to the specified third\u2013party storage service.<\/p>\n

This capability is\u00a0now\u00a0available\u00a0in the Current Channel for Microsoft 365<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0cloud storage providers\u00a0who qualify for the CSPP+ program tier, including\u00a0Box,\u00a0Citrix,\u00a0Egnyte, OpenText, and others.\u00a0Partners who are interested in deeper integration with Microsoft 365\u00a0can\u00a0reach out to their account manager\u00a0for additional information about the CSPP+ program.<\/p>\n

Integration capabilities in Teams<\/h2>\n

Microsoft Teams provides a customizable workspace for\u00a0bringing apps and workflows into chat, meetings,\u00a0and channel\u00a0collaboration spaces.\u00a0As part of Microsoft 365, Teams uses\u00a0OneDrive\u00a0and\u00a0SharePoint\u00a0as its default\u00a0cloud\u00a0storage option.\u00a0We\u2019re updating Teams to allow customers to\u00a0choose\u00a0any participating Cloud storage partner like Box,\u00a0Citrix,\u00a0Dropbox, Egnyte,\u00a0and\u00a0OpenText,\u00a0as the default file storage location for Teams.\u00a0Once enabled,\u00a0Teams users can\u00a0access,\u00a0upload, and share files in Teams\u00a0channels and\u00a0chats directly from their primary file\u00a0storage\u00a0app.<\/p>\n

Finally, users will also be able to access and view all their files in one place, right within Teams.<\/p>\n

The integration also allows users to open, create and edit Microsoft 365 files stored in their default storage solution, directly in Office desktop or web apps, from Teams.<\/p>\n

Like the real-time co-authoring capability mentioned above, this capability is in public preview right now. We anticipate that it will become generally available this Fall.<\/p>\n
