Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 ships with and installs Microsoft\u2019s Web Deployment Tool as part of the Visual Web Developer. In order to set up a server for publishing or allowing machines to deploy packages created in VS 2010 you will need to download and install the Web Deployment Tool RC1 from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iis.net\/downloads\/default.aspx?tabid=34&amp;g=6&amp;i=1602\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IIS Download Center<\/A>. Note that newer versions of the Web Deployment Tool may not be compatible with VS 2010 Beta 1. If needed, VS 2010 Beta 1 has the Web Deployment Tool MSIs located in the WCU\\MSDeploy directory of the DVD. <\/P>\n<H4>Setup for Package Installation:<\/H4>\n<P>To consume packages created by Visual Studio Beta 1 or the Web Deployment Tool, you will need to install Microsoft\u2019s Web Deployment Tool. Below are two different options for installing the Web Deployment Tool:<\/P>\n<OL>\n<LI><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/web\/downloads\/platform.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><STRONG>Microsoft Web Platform Installer<\/STRONG><\/A> \n<OL>\n<LI>Download Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta from link above. <\/LI>\n<LI>Under the \u201cWeb Platform\u201d tab choose \u201cCustomize\u201d Web Server and check \u201cWeb Deployment Tool 1.0 RC\u201d <\/LI>\n<LI>Select \u201cInstall\u201d&nbsp; <BR><A href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/WebPI_4.jpg\"><IMG title=\"WebPI\" height=\"378\" alt=\"WebPI\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/WebPI_thumb_1.jpg\" width=\"514\" border=\"0\"><\/A> <\/LI>\n<LI>The \u201cInstall\u201d screen will appear with any needed dependencies. Click the \u201cAccept\u201d button.<\/LI><\/OL><\/LI>\n<LI><STRONG>Install from MSI<\/STRONG> \n<OL>\n<LI>Launch the x86 or x64 Web Deployment Tool\u2019s MSI (information for MSI located above.)<\/LI>\n<LI>Read and accept EULA. Click Next.<\/LI>\n<LI>Select Typical.<\/LI>\n<LI>Select Install.<\/LI><\/OL><\/LI><\/OL>\n<P>Microsoft Web Deployment should now be installed and useable by the command file generated from VS 2010 for deploying.<\/P>\n<H4>Setting up the Web Deployment Tool\u2019s Web Management Service (WMSvc) for administrator publishing on Windows 2008 Server:<\/H4>\n<P>Installing the Web Management Service allows users to publish Web Applications from Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 directly to the server, cutting down on time and steps required to publish applications. Some of the features the Web Deployment Tool helps with are creating applications during deployment and performing incremental publishing. With administrator publishing on IIS 7, users can publish IIS Setting, change the web application\u2019s physical path, and transport Application Pool configurations.&nbsp; <\/P>\n<OL>\n<LI>Make sure the Web Server (IIS) role is added to the Server.<\/LI>\n<LI>In the Role Service section, make sure that the Security node and under Management Tools the Management Service is installed. <BR><A href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/WebServerRoles_2.jpg\"><IMG title=\"WebServerRoles\" height=\"477\" alt=\"WebServerRoles\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/WebServerRoles_thumb.jpg\" width=\"465\" border=\"0\"><\/A> <\/LI>\n<LI>Launch the x86 or x64 Web Deployment Tool\u2019s MSI. <\/LI>\n<LI>Read and accept&nbsp; EULA. Click Next. <\/LI>\n<LI>Select the \u201cCustom\u201d option on the \u201cChoose Setup Type\u201d dialog. <\/LI>\n<LI>You should now be presented with following options: <BR><A href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/CustomSetupFeatures_2.jpg\"><IMG title=\"CustomSetupFeatures\" height=\"339\" alt=\"CustomSetupFeatures\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/CustomSetupFeatures_thumb.jpg\" width=\"437\" border=\"0\"><\/A> <BR><\/LI>\n<LI>Select the \u201cWeb Management Service\u201d to install the WMSvc handler used by One-Click Publishing. \n<OL>\n<LI>\u201cPackaging User Interface\u201d will allow you to install packages created in VS 2010 through Internet Information Services Manager (inetmgr.exe). <\/LI>\n<LI>\u201cPowerShell Snapin\u201d adds Power Shell functionality. <\/LI>\n<LI>\u201cWeb Management Service\u201d is used by One-Click Publish. <\/LI>\n<LI>\u201cRemote agent service\u201d is another option for publishing, but is not used by One-Click Publish. <\/LI><\/OL><\/LI>\n<LI>Finish Web Deployment Tool setup. <\/LI>\n<LI>Go back to the Server Manager window and expand the \u201cConfiguration\u201d section. <\/LI>\n<LI>Under the \u201cServices\u201d node. If present make sure the \u201cWeb Deployment Agent Service\u201d and \u201cWeb Management Service\u201d are Started and have a Startup type of \u201cAutomatic\u201d. <\/LI>\n<LI>Run inetmgr.exe. <\/LI>\n<LI>Under the root IIS node select the Management Service. <BR><A href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/ManagementService_2.jpg\"><IMG title=\"ManagementService\" height=\"413\" alt=\"ManagementService\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/ManagementService_thumb.jpg\" width=\"571\" border=\"0\"><\/A>&nbsp; <BR><\/LI>\n<LI>Stop the service. <\/LI>\n<LI>Select \u201cEnable remote connections\u201d <\/LI>\n<LI>Select \u201cApply\u201d and \u201cStart\u201d. <BR><A href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/EnableRemoteConnections_2.jpg\"><IMG title=\"EnableRemoteConnections\" height=\"368\" alt=\"EnableRemoteConnections\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2019\/02\/EnableRemoteConnections_thumb.jpg\" width=\"564\" border=\"0\"><\/A> <\/LI><\/OL>\n<P>The above steps will allow administrator accounts to publish to this server.
