Azure adds your VMs to <a href=\"http:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/documentation\/articles\/cloud-services-what-is\/\" title=\"Cloud Services\">cloud services<\/a>. You&#8217;ll need a Microsoft Azure account to create your VMs. If you don&#8217;t have one yet, sign up <a href=\"http:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/pricing\/free-trial\/\" title=\"Azure account\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\nIn Release Management, you&#8217;ll create an Azure environment for each release stage. You then link your environment to a cloud service associated with your Azure subscription. Release Management can then access any of the VMs in this cloud service to use in the environment. If you have multiple VMs associated with a cloud service, you can add any of these VMs as servers to your Azure environment in Release Management.<\/p>\n<p>1&#46;\u00a0In the Azure portal, create the VMs that you want to use in your release environment. By default, each VM you create is added to its own cloud service. If you want to use multiple VMs in an environment, they must all be in the same cloud service. To <a href=\"http:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/documentation\/articles\/cloud-services-connect-virtual-machine\/\" title=\"Gallery\">add a VM to a specific cloud service<\/a>, choose From Gallery when you create the VM.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/6557.1.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n2&#46;\u00a0Add the details for your Azure subscription to Release Management.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/4265.2.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a title=\"Azure Settings\" href=\"https:\/\/manage.windowsazure.com\/publishsettings\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Download the settings file<\/span><\/a><\/span> from the Azure portal to get your subscription ID and Management Certificate key. Go <a href=\"https:\/\/manage.windowsazure.com\/microsoft.onmicrosoft.com#Workspaces\/StorageExtension\/storage\" title=\"Storage Account\">here<\/a> to get the name of an existing storage account or add a new storage account using the Azure portal.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/7288.3.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n3&#46;\u00a0Create a vNext Azure environment for each stage in your release path.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/1055.4.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n4&#46;\u00a0Link your Azure environment in Release Management to the Azure subscription that you entered.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/3465.5.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSelect the Azure subscription that you want to use with this environment. (Sometimes it takes a few minutes to load your subscription.) The Azure cloud services for this subscription are displayed. Select a cloud service to link the subscription to the environment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/3125.6.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIf there are no cloud services for your Azure subscription, you cannot link it to the environment. Go to the Azure portal and create a VM for this subscription. When you create a VM, a cloud service with the same name is created by default. Refresh to select this cloud service.<\/p>\n<p>5&#46;\u00a0Link your Azure VMs in the cloud service as servers for the environment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/4628.7.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSelect the servers that you want to link.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/7801.8.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n6&#46;\u00a0For each server, you can add configuration variables that can be used by your deployment actions. For example, you can add username and password here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/09\/5857.9.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIf you add configuration variables with the same name for actions in your release template, the values in any actions will override the values that you set here.<\/p>\n<p>7&#46;\u00a0View the environments that you created in the environments tab.
