{"id":7113,"date":"2007-07-24T13:05:00","date_gmt":"2007-07-24T13:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/visualstudioalm\/2007\/07\/24\/missing-proxy-installation-steps-in-the-current-installation-guide\/"},"modified":"2019-02-14T17:52:24","modified_gmt":"2019-02-15T01:52:24","slug":"missing-proxy-installation-steps-in-the-current-installation-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/missing-proxy-installation-steps-in-the-current-installation-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"Missing Proxy installation steps in the current installation guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>&nbsp;Hi all,<\/p>\n<p>The current version of the Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Installation Guide is missing a section from the topic on installing the proxy.&nbsp; Specifically, the steps for actually installing the proxy are missing from the topic!&nbsp; These steps&nbsp;should appear between the steps for installing the prerequisites and installing SP1, but somehow they were lost between updates.&nbsp; We&#8217;re working on getting the install guide updated, but until then, here are the missing steps:&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To install the Team Foundation Server Proxy<\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>1.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the proxy server, log on to Windows using the&nbsp;<span class=\"token\">Team Foundation Server <\/span>Setup account; for example, <em><span>Domain<\/span><\/em>TFSSETUP. On the <span class=\"token\">Team Foundation Server <\/span>installation media, locate the proxy folder and run <strong><span>setup<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"textinlist1\"><span>The Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Proxy Setup wizard starts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>2.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Welcome to Setup<\/span><\/strong> page, click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>3.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>License Terms and Product Key<\/span><\/strong> page, review the license agreement. If you accept the terms and conditions, select <strong><span>I accept the terms of the License Agreement<\/span><\/strong>, and then click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>4.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>System Health Check<\/span><\/strong> page, examine any warnings or blocks by clicking the <strong><span>report<\/span><\/strong> link.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bulletedlist2\"><span>&middot;<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>Address any blocks before you continue setup, click <strong><span>Cancel<\/span><\/strong>, and then run setup again after fixing the blocking issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bulletedlist2\"><span>&middot;<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>Review any warnings before continuing (although they should not prevent setup from completing), and then click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bulletedlist2\"><span>&middot;<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>If nothing is listed, click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>5.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Destination Folder<\/span><\/strong> page, accept the default destination folder, and then click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>6.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Cache Folder<\/span><\/strong> page, accept the default path and folder, and then click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"alerttextinlist1\"><strong><span>Note&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><span>The folder you specify should have enough free space to let you cache the files there.<\/span><span class=\"labelembedded\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>7.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Service Account<\/span><\/strong> page, type the Windows domain user account you created for the <span class=\"token\">Team Foundation Server <\/span>Proxy account (for example, <em><span>Domain<\/span><\/em>TFSPROXY) in the <strong><span>Account Name<\/span><\/strong> box, type the password in the <strong><span>Password<\/span><\/strong> box, and then click <strong><span>Next<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"textinlist1\"><span>For more information, see <span class=\"linktext\"><u><span>User Accounts Required for Team Foundation Server Setup<\/span><\/u><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>8.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Ready to Install<\/span><\/strong> page, click <strong><span>Install<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>9.<\/span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Installing Components<\/span><\/strong> page, monitor the installation of <span class=\"token\">Team Foundation Server <\/span>Proxy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>10.<\/span><span>&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Setup Completed Successfully<\/span><\/strong> page, click <strong><span>Finish<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"textinlist1\"><span>Internet Explorer appears.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"numberedlist1\"><span>11.<\/span><span>&nbsp; <\/span><span>On the <strong><span>Configuring Team Foundation Version Control Proxy<\/span><\/strong> page, follow the directions for configuring the proxy.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><span>Note<\/span><\/strong><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;You must configure <span class=\"token\">Team Foundation Server <\/span>Proxy before you can use it.
