{"id":4153,"date":"2012-10-17T23:47:11","date_gmt":"2012-10-17T23:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/visualstudioalm\/2012\/10\/17\/populate-test-suites-using-hierarchical-queries-in-microsoft-test-manager\/"},"modified":"2022-07-22T00:34:16","modified_gmt":"2022-07-22T08:34:16","slug":"populate-test-suites-using-hierarchical-queries-in-microsoft-test-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/populate-test-suites-using-hierarchical-queries-in-microsoft-test-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Populate Test Suites using hierarchical queries in Microsoft Test Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Running the ALM blog has been a hoot and from the readership growth it looks like people are finding it of value(thank you!)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This post is on a new features in <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/b\/visualstudioalm\/archive\/2012\/10\/08\/visual-studio-2012-update-1-ctp.aspx\">Visual Studio Update 1<\/a> and represents an experiment of having our MVPs contributing content.\u00a0 In this case the following steps were provided by one of our coffee loving MVPs, Anna Russo.\u00a0 Anna typically presents at the major test conferences like StarEast\u2026In case you are worried about her technical prowess at the last testing conference we made a small wager that lowest evaluation score would buy dinner\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I won\u2019t tell you won and I believe we were both were in the top 10 speakers\u2026but I am glad i was able to expense my meals for that trip!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#42;********************************************************************************************************************<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Populate Test Suites using hierarchical queries in Microsoft Test Manager<\/strong> by Anna Russo<\/p>\n<p>When you are querying for a test case to add to a test suite, it is sometimes easier to find your test case using hierarchical query types.<\/p>\n<p>1&#46; Select the query type you would like to use from the dropdown.\u00a0\u00a0 I am using Work Items and Direct Links because I know the title of the User Story my test cases are associated with.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"clip_image002\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"clip_image002\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/10\/6835.clip_image002_thumb_0E661605.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"181\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2&#46;
