{"id":25385,"date":"2016-11-07T05:51:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T13:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/visualstudioalm\/?p=25385"},"modified":"2019-02-14T15:56:08","modified_gmt":"2019-02-14T23:56:08","slug":"issue-with-using-application-insights-with-load-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/issue-with-using-application-insights-with-load-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue with using Application Insights with load tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Update &#8211; As of Feb 24th 2017, this issue has been addressed and the content below is no longer applicable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you use Application Insights to\u00a0collect app side metrics during load tests,\u00a0you will find that it currently doesn&#8217;t work as expected.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>When configuring applications to collect app side metrics in the load test editor in Visual Studio, you will see an error similar to the below:<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/AI.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"205\" class=\"aligncenter size-mediumlarge wp-image-25395\" alt=\"ai\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/11\/AI-500x205.png\" \/><\/a>If you have already configured Application Insights earlier for your load tests, then when running such load tests, you will not see any app metrics being collected and the &#8216;Status Messages&#8217; in your load test will\u00a0show a message that &#8216;Application counter collection failed due to an internal error and will be disabled for this run&#8217;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is due to an infrastructure issue. We have worked with the Application Insights team to understand this issue and a fix is in progress &#8211; ETA for a fix to be available is February 24th.
