Microsoft will be at CppCon 2026<\/a> in Aurora, Colorado, which is taking place from September 14 through 18. Join us for talks from Microsoft speakers and colleagues across the C++ community and visit the Microsoft booth Monday through Thursday to meet the team and discuss the tools, technologies, and challenges that matter to you. If you can’t make it, you can still watch the talks later on YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Survey<\/h2>\n

Whether you are going to the conference or not, we also invite you to take our annual CppCon survey at aka.ms\/cppcon\/survey<\/a>. Your feedback can help us improve our C++ developer tools and focus on solving the most pressing issues. Turbocharging Native Code Performance: Compiler Optimizations, Profile-Guided Optimizations, and Beyond<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Learn about new and improved compiler optimizations in Visual Studio 2026, from scalar replacement and vectorization to AVX-512 and NEON-specific improvements. Eric will also introduce sample-based profile-guided optimization (SPGO), explain how it uses runtime behavior to guide optimization decisions without traditional instrumentation, and show how to apply it in practice.<\/p>\n

The C++ Safety Issues Your Tools Can’t See<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Examine C++ safety problems that can compile cleanly and pass code review but still fail at runtime. Ion will cover recurring patterns involving temporary lifetimes, iterator invalidation, smart pointer ownership, coroutine frames, and implicit conversions, building a practical toolkit for recognizing these issues during code review.<\/p>\n
