Today we\u2019re shipping the December 2017 update to the <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.visualstudio.com\/items?itemName=ms-vscode.cpptools\">Visual Studio Code C\/C++ extension<\/a> \u2013 our last major update of this year, with out-of-box support for more Linux distros and built-in guidance on how to configure for a better IntelliSense experience. The <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cppblog\/cc-extension-for-visual-studio-code\/\">original blog post<\/a>, which\u00a0provides an overview of this extension,\u00a0has been updated with these changes.<\/p>\n<h2>Support for all Linux distros that VS Code runs on<\/h2>\n<p>The extension now works on all the Linux distros that <a href=\"https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\/\">VS Code<\/a> runs on. Specifically, the following two scenarios are now supported:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/Linux.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"102\" class=\"size-large wp-image-17816 alignleft\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/Linux.png\" \/><\/a>&#8211; The extension no longer requires GLIBC 2.18 as a dependency, which means it now natively runs on Linux distros that don\u2019t come with GLIBC 2.18, such as Linux distros equal to or older than Ubuntu 13.04, Fedora 19, RHEL 7, Debian 7, SUS 11, CentOS 7, and Scientific 7.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The extension now runs on Linux 32bit distros.<\/p>\n<h2>IntelliSense configuration guidance<\/h2>\n<p>If you have seen the following message on opening a folder in VS Code and wondered how includePath can be set up, click on the new \u201cLearn More\u201d button in the message to see the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Microsoft\/\">Guidance on configuring includePath for better IntelliSense results<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/IntelliSense.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/IntelliSense.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/IntelliSense.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"882\" height=\"75\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17815 size-full\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/02\/IntelliSense.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Tell us what you think<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.visualstudio.com\/items?itemName=ms-vscode.cpptools\">Download the C\/C++ extension for Visual Studio Code<\/a>, try it out, and let us know what you think.
