{"id":6972,"date":"2023-11-15T08:00:11","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T16:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/?p=6972"},"modified":"2023-11-14T12:46:46","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T20:46:46","slug":"migrate-vcore-mongodb-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/migrate-vcore-mongodb-extension\/","title":{"rendered":"New Offline Migration Feature in Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB Migration Extension for Azure Data Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In April 2023, we announced the public preview for end-to-end <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/migration-assessment-for-mongodb-to-azure-cosmos-db-for-mongodb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assessment in Azure Cosmos DB Migration for MongoDB extension in Azure Data Studio. <\/a>We have recently added the offline migration capability of MongoDB to Azure Cosmos DB MongoDB vCore to the same extension. With this additional capability, you can run an end-to-end assessment followed by migration with just a 7-step wizard. The platform manages the whole migration process and uses Azure cloud resources for a fast and efficient process. You don\u2019t need to set up or configure any additional resources for the migrations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2023\/11\/mongo_migration.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6026 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2023\/11\/mongo_migration.png\" alt=\"Mongo Migration using Azure Data Studio extension\" width=\"550\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The migration process is as simple as a copy-paste activity. Here are the steps involved:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the source.<\/li>\n<li>Select the destination.<\/li>\n<li>Review the assessment report and decide if you are good for migrations.<\/li>\n<li>Migrate everything or identify the databases and collections you want to migrate.<\/li>\n<li>Press the migrate button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After capturing the migration configuration from the wizard, the remaining process is executed on Azure cloud resources for a fast and efficient migration. You can monitor the progress of the migration using Azure Cosmos DB Migration for MongoDB extension in Azure Data Studio.
