Just 1 week after PostgreSQL 15 was released, PostgreSQL 15 GA is generally available in the portal for the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/azure\/cosmos-db\/postgresql\/introduction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL<\/a> managed service\u2014in all Azure regions. Whether you need to provision new clusters in Azure Cosmos DB for Postgres\u2014or upgrade your existing database clusters\u2014Postgres 15 is now a choice for you. Oh, and you can upgrade your existing cluster to Postgres 15 from any of the other supported major Postgres versions, using the in-place major version upgrade feature.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postgresql.org\/about\/news\/postgresql-15-released-2526\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PostgreSQL 15 release<\/a> of what many people fondly call the \u201cworld\u2019s most advanced open source relational database\u201d includes so many advancements, including (and this is just a few): sort performance improvements, SELECT DISTINCT parallelism, prefetching of pages during WAL replay, planner improvements for partitioning, and more. Ozgun Erdogan and Umur Cubukcu\u2019s announcement blog post, <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/cosmosdb\/distributed-postgresql-comes-to-azure-cosmos-db\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Distributed PostgreSQL comes to Azure Cosmos DB<\/a>, will walk you through what it\u2019s all about.<\/p>\n<p>Powered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/citusdata\/citus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Citus database<\/a>, an open source extension to Postgres, Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL is a relational, distributed SQL database service that enables you to run on Postgres at any scale\u2014from a single node to a large, distributed cluster.
