Or at least it was, until <a href=\"https:\/\/msdn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/commandline\/wsl\/release_notes#build-14965\">Windows 10 Insider build #14965<\/a>\u00a0was released, which support for network connection enumeration:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>via the command-line using the <code>ifconfig<\/code> command<\/li>\n<li>via the\u00a0<code>\/proc\/net\/dev<\/code>\u00a0virtual device<\/li>\n<li>via the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Netlink\">Netlink<\/a> socket&#8217;s NETLINK_ROUTE protocol&#8217;s RTM_GETLINK and RTM_GETADDR API<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Below is a screenshot of Bash on Windows running ifconfig:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2019\/04\/ifconfig.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"416\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-525\" alt=\"ifconfig\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2019\/02\/ifconfig-600x416.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This new feature should unblock tools\/languages\/features including<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Note: At this time of writing, there are a couple of related issues that you may trip over: <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Microsoft\/BashOnWindows\/issues\/1344\">BSOD starting Vivaldi Browser #1344<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Microsoft\/BashOnWindows\/issues\/1343\">Node: invalid argument, uv_interface_addresses #1343<\/a> The team are working on fixes for these issues which will bubble up to insiders ASAP.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the meantime, please do try out this feature and let us know if you find issues!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Enable network connection enumeration is currently the most-requested idea in our command-line User Voice.
