This release lands <strong>over 60 fixes and improvements<\/strong> as well as API key support for local models, automatic approval for supported agents, and native slash commands your agent brings with it.<\/p>\n<p>You can grab the update from the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.microsoft.com\/detail\/9NMQC2SSJX24\">Microsoft Store<\/a> or by <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/intelligent-terminal\/releases\/tag\/v0.2.2572\">heading to the release page<\/a> on GitHub. Let&#8217;s dive in!<\/p>\n<h3>Faster, lighter, snappier<\/h3>\n<p>We went after the parts of the product you feel every day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Faster agent startup.<\/strong> Agents come up quicker. Median time from connection to a ready agent dropped by <strong>56%<\/strong> for a single tab and <strong>47%<\/strong> for the fifth helper in a five-tab burst (debug benchmarks, depends on workload).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lighter context collection.<\/strong> Autofix and the planner gather what they need from your pane with far less overhead, cutting median collection time by roughly <strong>48% to 89%<\/strong> (debug benchmarks, depends on workload).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smoother long conversations.<\/strong> Scrolling back through a long transcript stays fast and responsive, even as the chat grows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>API key support for local models<\/h3>\n<p>Plenty of endpoints need an API key, and until now that meant keyless providers only. You can now add an API key for your local and OpenAI-compatible models under Settings > Agents. Keys are stored in Windows Credential Manager, not a settings file. Flip on automatic approval and your agent runs in allow-all mode right in the agent pane. It can clarify your goal, diagnose multi-step failures, ask for permissions, and route the fix back to the pane where the failure happened. We also fixed routing bugs, so clicking a tab&#8217;s Detected action runs autofix for that tab&#8217;s pane, not another one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/user-attachments\/assets\/8bd81449-59ce-43ae-a6f3-ece87150d1a9\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/github.com\/user-attachments\/assets\/8bd81449-59ce-43ae-a6f3-ece87150d1a9\" alt=\"Autofix working toward your goal\" width=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Follow every agent action clearly<\/h3>\n<p>Commands, working directories, output previews, exit codes, file changes, and permission requests all show up in order, and this release makes that view more readable:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Compact tool summaries.<\/strong> Successful tool calls collapse into a one-line summary, and consecutive reads, searches, edits, and deletes group together. Press <code>Ctrl+O<\/code> to inspect.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Line-level edit previews.<\/strong> Edits show the actual additions, removals, and nearby context instead of whole files.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collapsible thinking.<\/strong> The agent&#8217;s thinking expands while it works and tucks away when it&#8217;s done.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Live search details.<\/strong> Inspect an agent&#8217;s searches and results while it&#8217;s still working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/user-attachments\/assets\/afd84498-927e-45cf-ac33-48433408459a\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/github.com\/user-attachments\/assets\/afd84498-927e-45cf-ac33-48433408459a\" alt=\"Agent activity shown in order\" width=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>We heard you: polish and improvements<\/h3>\n<p>Plenty of smaller improvements and fixes landed too, many straight from your feedback:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Layout restore brings your agent along.<\/strong> If you use Terminal&#8217;s window layout restore setting (<strong>Settings > Startup > When Terminal starts<\/strong>), your agent panes and supported CLI conversations now come back with their panes and working directories, not just your terminals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Natural keyboard editing.<\/strong> Up and Down move through newlines and wrapped rows while keeping your column, and freeform clarification answers support word navigation, Home\/End, and deletion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Better draft selection.<\/strong> With text in the input, <code>Ctrl+A<\/code> selects your draft to copy, cut, delete, or replace, and copying it won&#8217;t cancel a running response.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clearer focus and targeting.<\/strong> The input border highlights keyboard focus, and redundant target labels disappear when there&#8217;s only one terminal to target.<\/li>\n<li><strong><code>Ctrl+wheel<\/code> zoom is back<\/strong> in agent panes, while plain scrolling keeps scrolling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Refreshed Agents settings<\/strong> with consistent styling, and you can save multiple custom agents across restarts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resumed and restored sessions keep their status<\/strong> instead of getting stuck at Ended or Idle.<\/li>\n<li><strong><code>\/restart<\/code> no longer hangs<\/strong> after an agent fails to start, and agent switches no longer get stuck on Connecting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancelled turns stay cancelled<\/strong>, so leftover output can&#8217;t leak into your next prompt.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cross-window moves are safer.<\/strong> Dragging a tab keeps its sessions, and a rejected move rolls back cleanly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fewer duplicate and ghost sessions<\/strong>, and fewer repeat permission prompts for actions you&#8217;ve already approved.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PowerShell shell integration recovers<\/strong> after prompt customizations like Oh My Posh replace your prompt.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terminal transparency and pane spacing are back to normal.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For everything else, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/intelligent-terminal\/releases\/tag\/v0.2.2572\">full release notes<\/a> on GitHub.<\/p>\n<h3>What&#8217;s coming up?<\/h3>\n<p>We&#8217;re staying focused on making agent CLIs faster, smoother, and easier to use inside Intelligent Terminal.
