{"id":3063,"date":"2006-12-16T17:15:50","date_gmt":"2006-12-16T17:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/buckh\/2006\/12\/16\/how-to-add-your-own-message-in-the-build-report\/"},"modified":"2006-12-16T17:15:50","modified_gmt":"2006-12-16T17:15:50","slug":"how-to-add-your-own-message-in-the-build-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/buckh\/how-to-add-your-own-message-in-the-build-report\/","title":{"rendered":"How to add your own message in the build report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve ever wanted to add your own message in the &#8220;Build Steps&#8221; section of the detailed build report, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/aaronhallberg\/\">Aaron Hallberg<\/a> provides a custom task to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron, along with the rest of the team, had been focused on finishing up the continuous integration feature for Team Build.&nbsp; I&#8217;m happy to say that we got it finished and checked into the main-line code this week.&nbsp; It&#8217;ll be in the next CTP that&#8217;s released.&nbsp; It&#8217;s also in&nbsp;a <a href=\"https:\/\/channel9.msdn.com\/\">Channel 9<\/a> interview that <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/briankel\/\">Brian Keller<\/a> taped yesterday where <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/jimlamb\">Jim Lamb<\/a> and I talk about Team Build as well as demonstrate the new features.&nbsp; Brian recorded <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/briankel\/archive\/2006\/12\/03\/submit-your-questions-for-the-upcoming-channel-9-interviews-of-the-team-foundation-server-team.aspx\">interviews with a number of TFS folks here in NC<\/a>, which should be available in the near future.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/aaronhallberg\/archive\/2006\/12\/14\/the-triumphant-return.aspx\">The Triumphant Return?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In any case, during a conference call the other day, a Team Build user expressed a desire to easily insert build steps into a build from within a csproj file&#8230;&nbsp;In previous posts I have laid out custom tasks which, as part of their execution, insert build steps.
