{"id":2043,"date":"2007-08-07T14:46:57","date_gmt":"2007-08-07T14:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/buckh\/2007\/08\/07\/using-cruisecontrol-net-to-trigger-tfs-2005-builds-for-continuous-integration\/"},"modified":"2007-08-07T14:46:57","modified_gmt":"2007-08-07T14:46:57","slug":"using-cruisecontrol-net-to-trigger-tfs-2005-builds-for-continuous-integration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/buckh\/using-cruisecontrol-net-to-trigger-tfs-2005-builds-for-continuous-integration\/","title":{"rendered":"Using CruiseControl.NET to trigger TFS 2005 builds for continuous integration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I ran across the following post by James Dawson and thought it may be of interest to folks trying to do CI with TFS 2005.&nbsp; Of course, you&#8217;ll find CI as part of the product in <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/buckh\/archive\/2007\/07\/26\/visual-studio-2008-beta-2-is-now-available-and-includes-a-go-live-license.aspx\">TFS 2008<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.conchango.com\/jamesdawson\/archive\/2007\/05\/24\/TeamBuild-Plug_2D00_in-for-CruiseControl.NET.aspx\">TeamBuild Plug-in for CruiseControl.NET<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to write this post for a couple of months now as a follow-up to a session that&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.conchango.com\/colinbird\">Colin<\/a> and I gave at the <a href=\"http:\/\/msdn2.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/architecture\/aa973290.aspx\">Microsoft Architect Insight Conference<\/a> back in March, but just haven&#8217;t found&nbsp;the time&#8230; at least, that&#8217;s my excuse &#8211; anyway cutting to the chase! <\/p>\n<p>Since the release of Team Foundation Server (TFS)&nbsp;there have been&nbsp;several Continuous Integration add-ons produced by various folks: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.codeplex.com\/automation\">Automaton<\/a> <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/notgartner.wordpress.com\/2006\/09\/18\/getting-started-with-tfs-integrator\/\">TFSIntegrator<\/a> <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/khushboo\/archive\/2006\/01\/04\/509122.aspx\">CI Sample<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.vertigosoftware.com\/teamsystem\/archive\/2006\/07\/14\/3075.aspx\">(also&nbsp;its &#8216;Vertigo remix&#8217;)<\/a> <\/li>\n<li>&#8230; and I dare say many more (not to mention the one that Microsoft are slated to ship with the Orcas release of VSTS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We&#8217;ve&nbsp;used most&nbsp;of the above, but despite however well they worked&nbsp;have found myself wanting some feature or other that was available in CCNet (actually it more about being badgered by developers about the missing features!).&nbsp; Whilst some of the above could have been extended to support these features, I couldn&#8217;t help but feel that this would have been reinventing the wheel &#8211; hence the idea to extend CCNet. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.conchango.com\/jamesdawson\/archive\/2007\/05\/24\/TeamBuild-Plug_2D00_in-for-CruiseControl.NET.aspx\">more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wlWriterSmartContent\" id=\"0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:f8b6062b-e5e7-4899-acc8-d7623fc50fcc\" style=\"padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-bottom: 0px;margin: 0px;padding-top: 0px\">Technorati tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/tfs\" rel=\"tag\">tfs<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/team%20foundation\" rel=\"tag\">team foundation<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/tfs%202005\" rel=\"tag\">tfs 2005<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/continuous%20integration\" rel=\"tag\">continuous integration<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/team%20build\" rel=\"tag\">team build<\/a><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I ran across the following post by James Dawson and thought it may be of interest to folks trying to do CI with TFS 2005.&nbsp; Of course, you&#8217;ll find CI as part of the product in TFS 2008.
