{"id":5921,"date":"2009-12-08T11:07:14","date_gmt":"2009-12-08T11:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/2009\/12\/08\/the-first-tfs-2010-patch-is-available\/"},"modified":"2018-08-14T00:21:14","modified_gmt":"2018-08-14T00:21:14","slug":"the-first-tfs-2010-patch-is-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/the-first-tfs-2010-patch-is-available\/","title":{"rendered":"The first TFS 2010 patch is available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of getting ready to ship, one of our exercises is to make sure we can service the product once it ships.&#160; We do this by releasing a few &quot;test&quot; patches for the Beta 2 release.&#160; At the same time, we like to include a few fixes that people may actually find useful. <\/p>\n<p>We (the TFS team) are planning 3 patches as part of our Beta 2 patch testing.&#160; The first is available now: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/connect.microsoft.com\/VisualStudio\/Downloads\/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=25099\">http:\/\/connect.microsoft.com\/VisualStudio\/Downloads\/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=25099<\/a><\/p>\n<p>or <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/code.msdn.microsoft.com\/KB976934\">http:\/\/code.msdn.microsoft.com\/KB976934<\/a> (as soon as the propagation process for it finishes \u2013 it\u2019s not quite done as I write this) <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the list of fixes in this patch: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue that incorrectly determined if system was on a domain or workgroup.<\/li>\n<li>Correctly detect if user has a previous 32-bit version of SQL express installed.<\/li>\n<li>In the advanced wizard on client OSs, stops automatically installing SQL Express.<\/li>\n<li>No longer block configuration when SQL Express installation returns the \u201creset\u201d error code (3010).<\/li>\n<li>We can now install and configure SQL Server express on a&#160; domain controller.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue with cross-domain identities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first one is the one we&#8217;ve seen requested the most and will allow TFS to be configured on a workgroup VM on a domain joined host. <\/p>\n<p>All of the fixes in this patch apply to configuration issues.&#160; As such, you need to apply the patch in the &quot;middle&quot; of the install sequence &#8211; after the files have been copied but before the config wizard is run.&#160; Basically, when you get to the screen shown below, uncheck the &quot;Launch Team Foundation Server Configuration Tool&quot; check box and exit.&#160; Then apply the patch.&#160; Then run the TFS configuration tool (It&#8217;s in the TFS Start menu group) and it will pick up where the setup left off. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/image_2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px;border-left: 0px;border-top: 0px;border-right: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/image_thumb.png\" width=\"635\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Good luck and let me know if you hit any issues. <\/p>\n<p>Brian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of getting ready to ship, one of our exercises is to make sure we can service the product once it ships.&#160; We do this by releasing a few &quot;test&quot; patches for the Beta 2 release.&#160; At the same time, we like to include a few fixes that people may actually find useful.
