{"id":2961,"date":"2012-09-12T11:44:10","date_gmt":"2012-09-12T11:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/2012\/09\/12\/no-jeans-at-the-launch\/"},"modified":"2024-04-30T13:40:43","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T20:40:43","slug":"no-jeans-at-the-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/no-jeans-at-the-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"No Jeans at the Launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw on Twitter some people expressing their disappointment at my wearing formal clothes for the launch keynote.\u00a0 I feel it necessary to defend myself <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15586\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\" alt=\"Image 8228 wlEmoticon smile 58CD4724\" width=\"19\" height=\"19\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 Ok, not really, but there\u2019s a funny story here.<\/p>\n<p>I was packing to come to Seattle last week and it occurred to me that no one had said anything about dress code.\u00a0 So, being me, I thought, hey, it\u2019s a developer event \u2013 jeans and a decent shirt should be good.\u00a0 The day after I got here I got an email on dress code \u2013 black slacks, grey shirt, etc. I replied saying \u2013 sorry, not sure I even own clothes like that but regardless, they are in North Carolina and I am here so I\u2019ll be there in jeans and a blue shirt.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of days went by and I got another email informing me that they needed my sizes because they were going shopping for me.\u00a0 Honestly, I thought they were kidding.\u00a0 But sure enough they were not.\u00a0 So then I replied, this just show how little I\u2019m known\u2026\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t begin to tell you my clothing sizes.\u00a0 All my clothes come from birthday and Christmas gifts (my mother in-law owns a clothing store).\u00a0 I can\u2019t remember the last time I bought anything other than shoes <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15586\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\" alt=\"Image 8228 wlEmoticon smile 58CD4724\" width=\"19\" height=\"19\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After looping my wife in (which I admit with some embarrassment) they had my sizes and the next day they showed up with a selection of clothes for me to try on.\u00a0 So, here I am, wearing clothes the event team bought for me.\u00a0 They actually fit pretty well and are plenty comfortable but certainly wasn\u2019t what I expected.<\/p>\n<p>You know, the thought has occurred to me; am I expected to give the clothes back?\u00a0 Quite honestly that would be OK with me because I\u2019m not sure when I\u2019ll wear them again <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15586\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/02\/8228.wlEmoticon-smile_58CD4724.png\" alt=\"Image 8228 wlEmoticon smile 58CD4724\" width=\"19\" height=\"19\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, that\u2019s the story and I\u2019m sticking to it.<\/p>\n<p>Brian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I saw on Twitter some people expressing their disappointment at my wearing formal clothes for the launch keynote.\u00a0 I feel it necessary to defend myself \u00a0 Ok, not really, but there\u2019s a funny story here.
