{"id":243,"date":"2014-12-03T05:28:03","date_gmt":"2014-12-03T05:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/2014\/12\/03\/visual-studio-online-update-dec-2nd\/"},"modified":"2019-02-16T22:46:50","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T22:46:50","slug":"visual-studio-online-update-dec-2nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/visual-studio-online-update-dec-2nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Visual Studio Online Update &#8211; Dec 2nd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we are rolling out the sprint 74 updates to VS Online.&nbsp; You can read details about the features on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/news\/2014-dec-2-vso\">service news page<\/a>.\nThere&rsquo;s nothing huge here.&nbsp; After the larger announcements we made at <a href=\"https:\/\/channel9.msdn.com\/Events\/Visual-Studio\/Connect-event-2014\">Connect();<\/a> in November, we&rsquo;re back to iterating on and improving capabilities more incrementally.\nFor large organizations, my favorite improvement is the new identity control.&nbsp; As it evolved, I kept asking the team to try to make it work like address resolution in Outlook works &ndash; I like it a lot.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s not quite the same because we don&rsquo;t have a local copy of the address book to work against but it&rsquo;s mostly the same.&nbsp; It has an MRU list of people you&rsquo;ve recently assigned work to, incremental filtering as you type, a search experience to search the entire directory, a virtual list that loads as you page, etc.&nbsp; It supports typing either someone&rsquo;s full name &ldquo;Brian Harry&rdquo; or their alias &ldquo;bharry&rdquo; (which we haven&rsquo;t supported before).&nbsp; It also supports avatars.\nIf your organization has more than a few dozen people, it&rsquo;s a big improvement.\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Identity control on a work item\" alt=\"Identity control on a work item\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn1.visualstudio.com\/dynimg\/IC769188.png\">\nFor now, these enhancements only apply to our web experience but we plan on bringing them into our IDE integrated experiences as well.\nYou&rsquo;ll also see improvements to pull requests, the kanban board and more.\nLet us know if you have any feedback&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>Brian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we are rolling out the sprint 74 updates to VS Online.&nbsp; You can read details about the features on the service news page.
