I try to share some of the funnier and stranger stories from my life.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I don\u2019t always remember to share them.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m working from home today because I\u2019ve got an all day phone call with people in Redmond.\u00a0 As I was sitting and waiting for my meeting to start this morning, the phone rang.\u00a0 It was the camp adjacent to our farm.\u00a0 The voice on the phone informed me that one of my cows was stuck in the mud.<\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s been raining a lot (2-3 inches of rain for tropical storm Andrea and more rain again today).\u00a0 Further, I just moved the cows, first thing this morning into another field that has a sizeable swampy area and a wet weather creek.\u00a0 So my initial reaction was \u201cok, I guess it\u2019s possible\u201d.\u00a0 I grabbed my son and we started walking towards the field in question.<\/p>\n

To add insult to injury, it started raining as we were walking.<\/p>\n

My next reaction was \u201cwhat the heck would I do if I actually do have a cow stuck in the mud?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ve pulled tractors, trucks and a fertilizer spreader out of the mud but what do you do with a cow?<\/p>\n

My next reaction was \u201cWhat? a cow stuck in the mud?\u201d\u00a0 Whoever reported this must not know much about cows.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen cows in the mud all the way up to their stomachs and never seen one get stuck.\u00a0 It seems crazy \u2013 not that it wouldn\u2019t be entirely impossible to happen (think quicksand) but would have to be incredibly rare.<\/p>\n

My son and I walked all through the woods along the creek, around all the mud holes, etc.\u00a0 We could not find a stuck cow anywhere.\u00a0 In fact, by the time we\u2019d walked all around the field, all the cows were out in the grass.\u00a0 So we headed back home \u2013 relieved that we did not, in fact, have to figure out what to do with a cow stuck in the mud.<\/p>\n

As we walked back, I reflected on how crazy my life is.\u00a0 How many people, while preparing for a meeting with a bunch of technology executives, get a call to go pull a cow out of the mud?\u00a0 It\u2019s quite insane.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t stop laughing about how silly this whole situation seems.<\/p>\n
