{"id":13215,"date":"2017-07-06T09:54:25","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T14:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/?p=13215"},"modified":"2019-02-27T06:27:41","modified_gmt":"2019-02-27T06:27:41","slug":"a-wiki-preview-on-vsts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/a-wiki-preview-on-vsts\/","title":{"rendered":"A Wiki preview on VSTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in February, I announced our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/2017\/02\/08\/a-wiki-for-team-services-and-tfs\/\">plan to release a fairly full featured Wiki for Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) and Team Foundation Server (TFS<\/a>).\u00a0 I also announced that we were purchasing the Wiki extension that was then in the <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.visualstudio.com\/items?itemName=ms-devlabs.wiki\">marketplace<\/a>.\u00a0 Since then, we&#8217;ve left the Wiki extension in the marketplace pretty much alone and worked to bring in the code and get it ready as a first class VSTS feature.\u00a0 Today, we launched the first preview of our new Wiki feature.\u00a0 You can read details in the official <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/33855\/\">Wiki announcement<\/a>.\u00a0 The &#8220;old&#8221; extension in the marketplace is now deprecated.\u00a0 The announcement I referenced has instructions on migrating from the extension to the new built-in wiki experience.<\/p>\n<p>The preview is on by default for all accounts.\u00a0 You will see it in all of your projects.\u00a0 The account administrator can disable the preview using the &#8220;Preview features&#8221; menu under their user profile if they don&#8217;t want it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/Wikihubgroup.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13225\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/Wikihubgroup.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"838\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example Wiki page someone wrote in our project that introduces the new Wiki feature to people in our team.\n<a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/WikiPage.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13235\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/02\/WikiPage-1024x595.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"879\" height=\"511\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is an initial preview.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very functional and we are using it ourselves but there&#8217;s lots of work left to go to complete it.\u00a0 Some examples of work in progress include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A search experience- you can only filter titles right now.\u00a0 We will have a full text search experience.<\/li>\n<li>Support for MediaWiki format for making importing an existing Wiki easy.<\/li>\n<li>Rich links to work items and other artifacts.<\/li>\n<li>And much more&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There&#8217;s no separate installation or licensing required.\u00a0 It&#8217;s super easy to get started.\u00a0 Just navigate to the Wiki hub, click &#8220;Create Wiki&#8221;
