{"id":12515,"date":"2016-12-20T09:10:17","date_gmt":"2016-12-20T14:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/?p=12515"},"modified":"2019-02-16T22:46:07","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T22:46:07","slug":"happy-holidays-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/happy-holidays-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy holidays 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is my last day in the office for the year. \u00a0I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who reads my blog and engages on TFS and VS Team Services. \u00a0It&#8217;s great working with all of you.\nOverall, it&#8217;s been a good year. \u00a0We shipped TFS 2015 Update 2 and 3 and TFS 2017. \u00a0We continued our tradition of substantial Team Services updates every sprint. \u00a0Overall service stability improved over the year (knock on wood), though we certainly had a few rough patches and learned how to improve from them. \u00a0As I reflect over it, I&#8217;m proud of what we have accomplished and I hope you all like it.\nSome of my favorite highlights from this year include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The marketplace became real and now has hundreds of really useful extensions &#8211; for both Team Services and TFS. \u00a0New extensions are published almost every day.<\/li>\n<li>Package management shipped with both Nuget and NPM support and Maven on the way.<\/li>\n<li>Code search shipped, making it easy to search your entire code base with semantic understanding for common languages.<\/li>\n<li>The new release management service went from promising approach to really powerful release orchestration across almost any app type and platform.<\/li>\n<li>The pull request experience is now really awesome! \u00a0Improved UX, policies, iterations and more.<\/li>\n<li>Our Java support really became first class with improvements across the board &#8211; IDE integration, build and release tasks, test integration, Jenkins integration, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Great improvements in our build reports &#8211; integrating test results, code coverage and more.<\/li>\n<li>The web based test experience became a viable alternative to the rich client.<\/li>\n<li>Good progress on the new work item customization experience.<\/li>\n<li>Good progress on a UX refresh to improve consistency, modernize the look and reduce clicks and navigation overhead, along with lots of performance improvements.<\/li>\n<li>A new import service to bring TFS project collections into Team Services and our first set of really large enterprise customers (other than ourselves) on the service and happy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And this is just a small sampling. \u00a0Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/en-us\/articles\/news\/2016\/nov-23-team-services\">release timeline<\/a> to see more. \u00a0I&#8217;m very much looking forward to 2017 being another great year.\nI wish you all happy holidays and a great beginning to the new year. \u00a0I look forward to chatting with you again in January. \u00a0I&#8217;ll monitor blog comments on and off over the next 10 days but expect I&#8217;ll be a bit slower than usual.\nHappy Holidays!\nBrian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is my last day in the office for the year. \u00a0I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who reads my blog and engages on TFS and VS Team Services. \u00a0It&#8217;s great working with all of you.
