{"id":11511,"date":"2016-03-03T13:00:45","date_gmt":"2016-03-03T18:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/bharry\/?p=11511"},"modified":"2019-02-16T22:46:24","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T22:46:24","slug":"tfs-2015-rc2-and-vs-2015-update-2-rc-are-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/bharry\/tfs-2015-rc2-and-vs-2015-update-2-rc-are-available\/","title":{"rendered":"TFS 2015 RC2 and VS 2015 Update 2 RC are available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we released release candidate 2 of TFS 2015 Update 2 and the release candidate of Visual Studio 2015 Update 2.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkId=626619\">Download TFS 2015 Update 2 RC 2<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/news\/tfs2015-update2-vs\">TFS Release notes<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkId=626599\">Download VS 2015 Update 2 RC<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/news\/vs2015-update2-vs\">VS Release notes<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/en-US\/update2-prereleases\">Landing page with a full list of downloads<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As usual I&#8217;ll mostly comment on TFS and TFS related features and let the VS blog cover broader VS topics.\nIn RC1 of TFS, we already released a ton of new\u00a0compelling capabilities &#8211; like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The new web based Release Management &#8220;V.Next&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Work item delete and recycle bin<\/li>\n<li>Lots of dashboard improvements<\/li>\n<li>Improved pull request experience<\/li>\n<li>Test results analysis for builds<\/li>\n<li>Chrome extension for Exploratory testing<\/li>\n<li>and more&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RC2 brings a bunch more new stuff, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for installing extensions from the <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.visualstudio.com\/vsts\">VS Marketplace <\/a>in TFS.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll publish the accompanying support to the marketplace shortly after the RC2 is available.\u00a0 The TFS extension support we are shipping in Update 2 is definitely &#8220;minimum viable product&#8221; level.\u00a0 We know that.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t support paid extensions.\u00a0 The install process is multi-step.\u00a0 Etc.\u00a0 This is what we could get done to enable the majority of marketplace extensions with TFS in the Update 2 timeframe.\u00a0 It will improve in Update 3 and again in TFS 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Gated checkin support for Build &#8220;V.Next&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Lots of new release management capabilities\n<ul>\n<li>Support for provisioning in SCVMM.\u00a0 This brings elements of our Lab Management solution into RM.\u00a0 (available as a\u00a0free extension in the marketplace)<\/li>\n<li>Support for provisioning in VMWare &#8211; wow, that&#8217;s been a top customer request for Lab Management for a long time and now we have it.\u00a0 (available as a\u00a0free\u00a0extension in the marketplace)<\/li>\n<li>Build integration that allows you to easily see which environments a build has been deployed to.<\/li>\n<li>Test results integrated with release so you can correlate test results as your release advances through stages.<\/li>\n<li>and more&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Improved Java support for JUnit and publishing Java\u00a0code coverage from Linux\/Mac.<\/li>\n<li>Many improvements in the VS Git integration &#8211; better performance, better getting started experience, useful status bar indicators, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lots of good stuff.\u00a0 Of course, we also took all the feedback we got from RC1 and fixed all the bugs &#8211; thank you for all of the bug reports.\u00a0 Like RC1, this is a go-live release.\u00a0 You can upgrade directly to it from any public &#8220;go-live&#8221; release starting with TFS 2010, including the TFS 2015 Update2 RC1 release.\u00a0 We&#8217;d very much appreciate you all giving this a spin and letting us know about any issues you hit.\u00a0 Unless something surprising happens, I expect this will be the last Update 2 pre-release and the next step is the final release.\nThanks,\nBrian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we released release candidate 2 of TFS 2015 Update 2 and the release candidate of Visual Studio 2015 Update 2.
