Configuring Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server with TFS 2010
I’ve heard numerous times from customers that getting MOSS configured properly to work with TFS 2010 in order to get the best dashboard and analytics experience is VERY difficult. I have to say, I’ve done it myself a few times and there are a lot of steps and without a MOSS expert watching over my shoulder, I think I would have ended up in the ditch every time. To help with this we built a tool that can be used to configure MOSS for use with TFS. You would generally use this tool after a default install of MOSS and of TFS (same machine or not). You install and run this tool on the computer on which MOSS is installed. This tool will not solve all problems – it has some limitations which you’ll find in the documentation. But, it can help you configure the following services: The tool configures the following features in Office SharePoint Server 2007:
- Shared Service Provider (SSP)
- Excel Services
- Single Sign-on Service
The tool configures the following features in SharePoint Server 2010:
- Excel Services
- Secure Store Service

It just lays down some files (including documentation and utilities) in the program files directory, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010 SharePoint Configure After reading the documentation, you can confirm that this tool will be helpful to you in getting this working and then you can run the utilities to actually configure it. We had half a dozen or so “beta testers” who had tried (some succeeded and some not) configuring MOSS with TFS manually and then tried the tool and all reported a substantially better experience.
