Data Science Virtual Machine on Azure Government – Something for Everyone

Steve Michelotti

In this episode of the Azure Government video series, Steve Michelotti, principal program manager, Azure Government, sits down with Zach Kramer, principal group PM manager, Azure Government, to discuss numerous aspects of the Data Science Virtual Machine (DSVM) in Azure Government. Steve and Zach show how the DSVM is an ideal environment for data scientists creating custom machine learning models.

The DSVM gives you an environment with all data science tools already pre-installed, with an ability to choose your preferred operating system and a large range of compute choices from CPU to GPU for larger workloads. But the DSVM is not only for data scientists! Zach shows the benefits to IT Pros/Admins using the DSVM – taking advantage of Azure command line tools pre-installed on a machine inside the compliance boundary. Steve then shows the benefits of the DSVM for a regular (non-data scientist) developer. Finally, Zach shows a demo of how database developers can benefit from the environment provided by the DSVM. In this demo-heavy video, Zach and Steve show that, while the DSVM is great for data scientists, the DSVM also provides something for everyone!
