A new, exciting capability for Azure SQL Database has been announced today at \/\/Build:\u00a0Azure SQL Database has a new built-in feature that allows native integration with external REST endpoints<\/strong>. This means that integration of Azure SQL Database with Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Cognitive Services, Event Hubs, Event Grid, Azure Containers, API Management and in general any REST or even GraphQL endpoint is just one line of code away. The feature is one of the most requested by developers and MVPs and it enormously reduces the friction to integrate Azure services with Azure SQL Database<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is the Azure SQL Database External REST Endpoints Integration EAP\u00a0<\/span>for?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

If you are interested in using Azure SQL Database\u00a0<\/span>external\u00a0REST\u00a0<\/span>endpoints integration\u00a0to test the feature before it becomes\u00a0<\/span>generally\u00a0available to the public, then this\u00a0<\/span>early adoption program\u00a0(\u201cEAP<\/span>\u201d)\u00a0is for you. Customers and partners running Azure SQL Database who would like to validate this new ability and verify how they can use it in their solutions are a good fit for this EAP. The Azure SQL Database\u00a0<\/span>external\u00a0REST\u00a0<\/span>endpoints integration\u00a0EAP is also for partners who want to build\u00a0<\/span>system integrator (\u201cSI<\/span>\u201d)\u00a0offerings and\u00a0<\/span>independent software vendor (\u201cISV<\/span>\u201d)\u00a0applications using Azure SQL Database. Upon successful validation, these applications and solutions can be supported in production prior to the general availability release.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Program Benefits<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

EAP participants have direct access to the\u00a0<\/span>development\u00a0team through a Program Manager Buddy. Your “PM Buddy” is there as a primary contact within the development team to help connect you to the right people to help your solution adopt this new Azure SQL Database feature. Typically, PM Buddies communicate with the customer via email and, if needed, via regularly scheduled meetings.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Customers in the EAP will try out new features before the\u00a0<\/span>general\u00a0public gets to see them and provide feedback directly to the\u00a0<\/span>development\u00a0team,\u00a0<\/span>providing input that may\u00a0influenc<\/span>e\u00a0how features will behave when the Azure SQL Database feature\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>the EAP reaches general availability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Requirements<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Start by reviewing the Terms and Conditions of the Azure SQL Database\u00a0<\/span>external\u00a0REST\u00a0<\/span>endpoints\u00a0integration\u00a0EAP that follows below.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Next, complete the application form (<\/span>https:\/\/aka.ms\/azure-sql-extrest-eap-form<\/span><\/a>), providing as much detail as possible to help us understand your usage scenario(s).<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>A<\/span>\u00a0non-disclosure agreement (\u201cNDA<\/span>\u201d)\u00a0with Microsoft will be required to participate in the program. If you do not already have an NDA, we will help\u00a0<\/span>you\u00a0get one signed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Requirements<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Customers selected to participate in the\u00a0<\/span>Program<\/span>\u00a0will be required to have a<\/span>\u00a0non-disclosure agreement\u00a0with Microsoft.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Communications Policy<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

In\u00a0joining<\/span>,\u00a0and throughout the duration of your participation in<\/span>,\u00a0the Program, you\u00a0<\/span>are providing your consent\u00a0to\u00a0receive periodic communications<\/span>\u00a0from Microsoft\u00a0(i) about your use of the Program<\/span>,\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>(ii) about the latest news and updates related to the Program.\u00a0<\/span>In your participation in the\u00a0Program\u00a0you are also providing your consent to be added to\u00a0related Teams channels, or similar online communities, managed in connection with the Program.\u00a0You can leave the Program at any time to stop receiving these communications by emailing the team at azuresqldbeaphelp@microsoft.com<\/a>. If you leave the program, you will no longer have access to<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0Benefits. Changes to the Program Services<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

We may make changes<\/span>\u00a0to the Program\u00a0at any time\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0without notice<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>From time to time we may add,\u00a0remove\u00a0or stop providing certain Benefits, including access to certain third-party or Microsoft software or services as part of the Program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prohibited Use<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

You may not rent, lease, lend, resell, transfer, or host any Benefits or redemption mechanisms including codes that you receive through the Program, or any portion thereof, to or for third parties, and you may not disable, tamper with or otherwise circumvent any mechanism that limits your use of the Benefits.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaving the Program<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

You may leave the Program at any time by emailing the team at azuresqldbeaphelp@microsoft.com. When you leave the Program, access to\u00a0<\/span>the Benefits\u00a0will cease\u00a0and\u00a0the Azure SQL Database\u00a0<\/span>external\u00a0REST\u00a0<\/span>endpoints\u00a0integration\u00a0preview feature will be disabled. You may\u00a0<\/span>request to\u00a0rejoin the Program at any time by emailing the team at azuresqldbeaphelp@microsoft.com.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Termination and Suspension<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

We may terminate these T&C<\/span>s\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>terminate or suspend\u00a0your participation in the Program\u00a0<\/span>or use of the Benefits\u00a0at\u00a0<\/span>any time\u00a0(i)\u00a0if\u00a0we, in our sole discretion,\u00a0determine\u00a0that,\u00a0or reasonably suspect that,\u00a0you<\/span>\u00a0have\u00a0violated<\/span>\u00a0these T&C<\/span>s,\u00a0<\/span>(ii)\u00a0due to\u00a0<\/span>your\u00a0lack of active participation in the program<\/span>, or (iii) in connection with the wind-down of the Program. We will give\u00a0<\/span>you\u00a0notice\u00a0<\/span>prior to\u00a0any such\u00a0suspen<\/span>sion\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>termination, except where we reasonably believe\u00a0<\/span>that immediate\u00a0suspen<\/span>sion\u00a0or terminat<\/span>ion\u00a0would be helpful in the mitigation of harm.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
